KEYNOTE: Audiences & Trends (Europe)
The European production ecosystem offers a wide diversity, each country has its own cultural diversity and a different style. Although trends group types of productions, each territory reflects different themes in its productions. In this context, OTTs have taken European productions halfway around the world in a global market that bets on local production as a differentiating element. There is no doubt that the best stories can be anywhere and that there are increasingly new ways of telling them. Whether by obligation (European regulations require since 2018 to invest 30% in the local product) or by devotion (results of series such as “La casa de papel”) platforms, not only global but also European and local have become key producers in the current fiction landscape. Faced with the growth of OTTS, linear TVs continue to produce fiction content, and increasingly through partnerships, especially in major European countries such as France, England, Spain, the Nordic countries, and Germany.
