The PITCH COPRO SERIES Editorial Committee of Conecta FICTION 5 was composed of professional experts and senior executives from the audiovisual industry, both from Europe and the Americas. They were in charge of reviewing and evaluating the international co-production series projects received during our call for projects. From all the projects submitted, a total of 10 projects were selected and presented at the pitching session during the on-site event from 13 to 16 September, in Baluarte, Pamplona-Iruña (Navarra, Spain).

Patricia Arpea has been in the entertainment and media industry for more than 25 years. She is currently the Head of Legal & Business Affairs at Publispei. Previously, she developed several projects at Publispei in different production areas, such as entertainment shows, TV series, animation or feature films.

HÉCTOR CABELLO REYES

DIRECTOR AND SCRIPTWRITER

(CHILE / FRANCE)

Actor, director and author, born in Chile. Héctor Cabello Reyes went to study in Australia for a while, settled in France, with several stays in Italy, and began his career as an actor, director and author in theatre in Paris. He then worked on live programmes for Canal+, before turning to cinema and now to TV series: in cinema, his scripts reach an average of 1.5 million viewers per film. The Concert was nominated for the César in France and the Golden Globes in Hollywood. Since 2017, he has been directing his own feature films (the latest, In-laws (Beaux-Parents, in France), has become one of the most profitable French films of 2019) and in 2016 he wrote with Bénabar the play I hear him for the theatre: presented in Paris at the Theatre Tristan Bernard, the play has been translated and adapted in Germany, Canada and Argentina. He is now working on a historical drama series for French TV.

Nadia Chevallard is an experienced TV executive having worked twenty years in distribution and is currently Head of International sales at Newen Connect, having joined the company in 2014. Newen Connect is one of the distribution leaders in Europe with 6,000 hours of programmes. Nadia’s mission is to sell and create value for Newen Connect’s newly produced programs and catalog all around the world, define and implement the Intl sales strategy, lead the Intl sales team and specifically handle direct sales to the broadcasters and platforms operating in Southern Europe and Latin America.

Previously, Nadia Chevallard had a strong track-record in the distribution and audiovisual eco-system, being European Sales Manager for the Canadian production and distribution company DHX Media from 2008 and 2010 and Brand Manager at DIC Entertainment from 2002 to 2008. She then directed the french subsidiary of Elastic Rights, a Spanish right management and licensing company specialized in animation and youth fiction, factual and formats.

Pilar de las Casas is the vice-president of the Film and Documentary Channels of AMC Networks International Southern Europe. She is responsible for the acquisitions and programming for the AMC, Hollywood, Sundance TV, Xtrm, Dark, and Somos channels, as well as for Canal Odisea/ Odisseia. Her professional career has always been linked to cable television in Spain and Portugal. She has worked for companies such as Discovery, AXN (Sony Pictures Entertainment) and started her career at the Spanish production company Videomedia.

Christian Gabela is currently the Senior Vice President Head of Latin America and Spain at Gaumont where he leads the search for international partnerships and original IP in Latin America & Spain, as well as the development and production of current projects, including El Presidente for Amazon Prime Video.

Prior to joining Gaumont, he was the VP and General Manager of Story House Entertainment, a premium content studio division within Univision. There, he oversaw the studio’s overall strategy as well as the development, production, and distribution of its content, which includes the Netflix Originals El Chapo and Tijuana, among others. Prior to this, he held executive roles at Univision’s corporate headquarters in New York, including working in the Office of the CEO. Christian began his career at NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Network and Studios, supporting their programming and original content production operations.

He received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and his BBA from the University of Miami (FL).

María Iregui began her career in the industry in Caracol Television and has been part of the strategic teams in Telemundo, Viacom, RCN Television and HBO Latin America. She has spent more than 20 years in the audiovisual world curating content for open television channels in Colombia, the U.S. Hispanic market and cable channels in Latin America, as well as some film projects where open channels are looking for investments.

She has been in charge of programming, marketing, new business, digital, and distribution areas, working on building brands, franchises and content that can connect with the audience.

Alexander Keil is a producer at Quokas Originals, a newly founded independent production- and management startup based in Munich. Quokas is servicing unique, bold and authentic creators to drive outstanding fictional content creation for its partners.

Alex has been working in creative producing and creative talent management for over 15 years for outlets such as ZDF, ARD, RTL, SAT1, Warner Bros. and Red Arrow Studios. He also worked for the Los Angeles-based premier global talent agencies UTA and Gersh, representing scriptwriters and directors. Alex graduated from Berlin film school and completed his degree in business administration at FU Berlin and Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. He is specialized in producing national and international co-productions and is a member of EAVE.

Scriptwriter from Navarre. Creator of the series Stolen Away (La desaparición de Soledad, in Spanish). He has written screenplays for 7 Vidas, Unauthorized Living, Caronte, Vintage, La Familia Mata, Con el Culo al Aire, Ciega a Citas, Hispania, Down Below and Entrevías. Nominated for a Goya for Best Adapted Screenplay for the feature film Jefe. Awarded at the Austin Film Festival for the screenplay of The Cliff. In addition to other projects in development, he is preparing to shoot the films Speak Sunlight and Objetos in 2021, and the Amazon miniseries Operación Marea Negra. He has taught on screenwriting master’s degrees at the Pontificia de Salamanca, Carlos III, Francisco de Vitoria, Camilo José Cela, Seville, Nebrija, Navarra and ECAM universities. Jury member of the Sir Peter Ustinov International Screenwriting Competition 2016 and 2017 and of the International Emmy Awards 2012, 2013 and 2020.

He studied finance and international relations at the Universidad Externado (Colombia), with a postgraduate degree in international economics from the University of Basel (Switzerland). Diego worked for 7 years at Accenture as a strategy consultant for the banking sector (offices in Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Madrid). He subsequently worked for 3 years for De La Rue in London as part of the executive team of business development, leading projects for emerging markets. Diego is one of the founding partners of Dynamo and he currently works as an executive producer, leading the development and production of premium series. Between 2016 and 2017, Diego supervised the production of Narcos (Netflix series). In 2018, was the main producer of Falco, the first Dynamo’s series developed in Mexico for Amazon. He was also Netflix series Frontera Verde showrunner, based on his original idea. In 2019, his Falco series was awarded an International Emmy.

Mexican Executive Producer, with extensive experience in content creation, development and production focused on the US-Hispanic market and multicultural audiences.
Ana Paula has been actively involved in developing the first Hispanic original content for Peacock a video streaming platform in the U.S.  Armas de Mujer (Miami, 2021).
As an Executive Producer, she has been responsible for the creation and execution of productions such as No Te Puedes Esconder (Mexico, Spain 2019), series nominated for the International Emmy 2020, El Recluso (Mexico, 2017), series also nominated for the International Emmy 2019, among others. Currently, she has been working on finalizing the production and post-production of a new series yet to be released.
